Hi, I’m Morgan . . .

Thank you for stopping here!  To be honest, I much prefer a face-to-face conversation.

I wish I could pour you a warm cup of coffee (or iced tea in the summer) so we could “sit a spell” on my screened porch and come alongside one another in this journey of cultivating helpful holy habits in

 our hearts,

our homes,

our relationships,

and our communities.

This is the place where I write about how I’m working out these habits in real life and hope to share gospel-centered, hope-filled encouragement with you along the way.

If you need to return to the old paths, then here’s a place to gently point you in that direction.

“Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls . . . .” (Jeremiah 6:16 NKJV).

A little about me . . .

I have the joy of being a wife, mama to four, writer, perpetual thinker, speaker, and Uber driver for said four kids.  Prior to becoming a mama, I completed a Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in family counseling at Wesley Biblical Seminary.  My time at Wesley was transformational as I grew in my knowledge and love of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  I thought I was on a path to a life of vocational ministry, but thankfully God’s plans are always better than our own!  By the time I was walking down the aisle to receive my diploma, I was expecting our first child and knew that God was calling me to something radically different from all the expectations of my family, friends, and even myself.

I ultimately said an excited and emphatic YES to God’s calling of discipling my children in a Deuteronomy 6 sort of way:

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deut. 6:6-7 NIV).

It’s been one of the hardest but most rewarding adventures of my life.  (And now we’ve entered the teen years!)

I’m usually at the feet of Jesus in the early morning hours while the rest of my days are spent living out this calling with my children—learning together how to do classical (Charlotte Mason) Christian education at home where this talk of “habits” surfaces daily.  And I am relishing in (or more like clinging to) the magnificent grace of God everyday!

What I believe . . .

I believe in the Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and affirm the Apostle’s Creed and Nicene Creed.  I believe God’s Word (all sixty-six God-inspired books) is supremely authoritative for individuals and churches, inerrant in its original autographs, and the only infallible rule for faith and practice.
